Making time for rest is still part of growing
This April's issue is not only coming late but is also a bit different from our usual programming. If you're new here, hello! this newsletter is run by volunteers from Bohol who want to highlight grassroots community events happening in the island. While activities are primarily happening in Tagbilaran City, we're also open to taking on volunteers who want to do something in their home towns. Just send us a message if you want to work together!
Key events culminated in February and March while April brought us the energy crisis, so we wanted to use this issue to share what we've been up to so far.
We hope everyone is making sure they're well hydrated this summer season!
Read on to see what's fertilizing.

Sprout Up Bohol's Discord Server
Due to the energy crisis, we've been toning down on face-to-face events and are opting instead for an online approach. Two key study groups have emerged through this initiative, one for Product Management and another for Cloud Computing.
These study groups are autonomous and operate depending on the capacity of the volunteers who attend them. A study group could either be a gathering for accountability purposes, or if the group would like to tackle challenging material together relevant to their topic of study.
The server is open for all and non-volunteers are welcome to participate in any of our online events unless otherwise stated. If the invite link has expired, send us an email at hello@sproutupbohol.com and we'll get you sorted.
Startup Weekend Women Bohol 2026 Put Us On The Map
Mar 6 to 8 @ Provincial Capitol of Bohol: Tagbilaran City was the only city in the Philippines to organize a Startup Weekend in time for Techstars' Global Pitch Competition during International Women's Day. We are so proud of not only all the participants, mentors, and judges but also the collaboration between JCI Boholana Kisses, Bohol Entrepreneurs Anonymous, and Sprout Up Bohol volunteers who helped make the event happen. We not only hope for more global representation of Bohol talent in the future, but also more local collaboration to build and grow our home together.
Anik-Anik DigitalXMakers Popup Event Was A Success
Sat, Feb 28 @ Friends Cafe: We hope you were able to drop by despite the small venue! This instance of the popup was intentionally small and curated to allow us, first-time popup organizers, to learn what needed to be done to organize a unique popup experience for the community. The goal was to use this format to showcase Boholano creatives and makers and to hopefully activate a grassroots initiative that can highlight more local talents. We're happy to report that we had around 200 people stop by to visit, and all 12 invited vendors made a profit after the event! Anik-Anik RAWND 2 is scheduled to happen this August. Stay tuned!
